One teen killed, three others injured in Auglaize County crash on U.S. 33

UPDATE @ 10:50 p.m.:

One teen was killed and three others suffered incapacitating injuries in a two-vehicle accident in Wapakoneta Monday.

Kennedy Schreiber, 16, of St. Marys, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Auglaize County Coroner’s Office, according to Lieutenant J.S. Carrico of the Wapakoneta Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Schreiber, driving a 1997 Toyota, traveled northbound on Townline-Kossuth Road around 3 p.m. when she failed to stop at the stop sign at U.S. 33, according to a release.

A 2001 Buick driven by Brian J. Grube, 35, of Piqua, travelling eastbound on U.S. 33, struck the driver’s door of the vehicle Schreiber was driving, the release stated.

The Toyota crossed the median and westbound lanes of US 33 before coming to a stop off the north side of U.S. 33, Carrico said.

Grube was taken to Lima Memorial Hospital and sustained incapacitating injuries, the release stated.

Carson Liming, 17, and Joseph Zartman, 17, both of St. Marys, were occupants of the Toyota driven by Schreiber. The two were taken to St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima sustaining incapacitating injuries, the release stated.

Schreiber was taken to Miller Funeral Home in St. Marys. 

Auglaize County Sheriff’s Office, St. Mary’s Police Department, St. Mary’s Fire Department, Buckland Fire Department, Auglaize County Emergency Management, Ohio Department of Transportation and the Auglaize County Coroner’s Office assisted OSP at the scene of the accident.

FIRST REPORT:

At least one person has died in a crash near the intersection of U.S. 33 and Townline Kossuth Road near St. Marys, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The crash was reported around 3 p.m.

The westbound lanes of U.S. 33 are closed at Townline Kossuth, troopers said.

Troopers said it’s unclear how many vehicles are involved.
