Ryan Custer returned to Cincinnati Wednesday after spending months at Craig Hospital in Denver in rehab. Custer fractured his C5 vertebrae jumping into a makeshift pool on April 8 at a party near Miami University.

Weeks after the accident, Custer received a treatment in Chicago where he received a 20 million-count stem cell injection. Doctors said he was only the third person in the world to receive the treatment.

After landing in Cincinnati Wednesday, Custer was welcomed home by family, friends, and teammates in a private gathering at his family’s home, according to the family’s Facebook page on Custer’s recovery.

The family has organized a public prayer service and gathering on Sunday, Sept. 3 at 2:30 p.m. at Elder High School in Cincinnati so ‘Ryan can personally thank all those that have prayer for him since his injury.”
