A two-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon that shut down State Route 72 (Springfield Jamestown Road) for five hours and sent three people to area hospitals remains under investigation, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

Officials with the Springfield post said the accident on southbound 72 at East Jackson Road occurred about 2:45 p.m. when a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am rear-ended a 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup.
