— Hundreds of volunteers participated Saturday in the 30th annual Sweep of Ohio Rivers despite the heat.
This cleanup is part of a six-state initiative to collect trash from along rivers spanning from Pittsburgh to Cairo, Illinois.
The group of local volunteers called “Protecting Our Waterways” worked shores along the Great Miami River from Indian Lake to Piqua.
Organizers say “litter piling up in local rivers and streams take away from the beauty and safety of the local waterways.”
