Heavy rain from Wednesday night leaves flooded streets and overwhelmed sewer drains

Flooding was reported Wednesday evening in several locations throughout the Miami Valley as heavy rains passed through the area, triggering the National Weather Service in Wilmington to issue a flood advisory in Clark, Greene and Montgomery counties.

Here are some of the unofficial reports of temporary street closures, vehicles left in standing water and overflowing storm sewers as a result of the rain.

These reports come from police and fire scanner communications, information sent to our newsroom by viewers or reports from weather spotters to the weather service chat room in Wilmington:

In Beavercreek, police crews asked for road closed signs in the area of Factory and Yellow Brick roads; Factory and Indian Ripple roads; Hilltop and Trebein roads.

In Clark County, minor flooding was reported about 7 miles southwest of Springfield, where an estimated 1.10 inches fell in 50 minutes, according to weather spotters.

In Dayton, high water was reported at Patterson Road and Woodman Drive, near Beavercreek; Keowee Street and Stanley Avenue.

In Oakwood, high water was reported in the area of Hathaway Road and Dixon Avenue.

In Xenia, in the1600 block of Alameda Drive, a person reported to police that their crashed vehicle was left on a curb and that high water was making getting out of it difficult, if not impossible. High water also reported in the areas of Sheelin Road and Omard Drive, as well as Frederick and Wilson drives.
