HAZMAT situation reported at WPAFB

WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE — Emergency medical technicians evaluated nine people after 55 gallons of phosphoric acid spilled Friday at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, a spokeswoman said.

The material spilled out of a commercial truck in front of the Air Force Research Laboratory’s building 620 in Area B, said spokeswoman Marie Vanover.

The call was initiated around 12:25 p.m.

EMTs from Beavercreek, Fairborn and Riverside responded to the base, she said.

Base officials could not confirm whether there were any people transported to the hospital.

The spill has been contained.

Additional information was not immediately available.
