Harrison Twp. father accused of seriously injuring infant sentenced to 6 years in prison

DAYTON — A 23-year-old Harrison Twp. man accused of seriously injuring his 8-week-old son was sentenced to six years in prison Thursday.

Hopeton M. Taylor was found guilty of felonious assault and child endangering on Feb. 28, according to the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office.

The state is able to file more charges against Taylor if his son dies from injuries.

Taylor reportedly injured the newborn while alone with the baby.

When the infant’s mother came home, she found him unresponsive with serious head trauma.

He reportedly had multiple skull fractures and other serious injuries.

“It is unthinkable that a parent would cause such injuries to his or her own child,” said Prosecutor Mat Heck Jr. “This defendant critically injured his own baby son. Parents are supposed to care for and protect their children. This defendant did neither.”
