Group gathers in Dayton and holds Breast Cancer Walk Saturday morning

DAYTON — A group of Dayton community members held a Breast Cancer Walk Saturday morning.

The walk was planned after the coronavirus pandemic cancelled the annual Breast Cancer Walk that typically begins at The Dayton Dragon’s baseball stadium.

Today’s walk began at Dunbar High School, a place where some of the survivors say they went to school.

One cancer survivor shared why she feels it’s important to keep events like this going.

“If you look around, each survivor has family members and friends that support them every step of the way. So every year we all get together," she said.

My journey at WHIO-TV began when I took a summer internship on the Breaking News Desk in May 2019. At a young age I quickly realized I had a passion for writing and the power words can have on our lives. Seeking opportunities to give those who feel voiceless a place to be heard is what drives me each day and reminds me why I began writing.
