Greyhound passengers stranded  in Tipp City for nearly 10 hours after bus breaks down

TIPP CITY — Passengers on a Greyhound bus said they were left stranded for roughly 10 hours after the bus broke down in Tipp City.

The bus began to break down while traveling to Cincinnati from Detroit on southbound Interstate 75, but the driver was able to pull off into a Speedway parking lot, passengers said.

“We got here at about 2:50 this morning when our bus broke down,” said Raleigh Anderson from Georgia.

Anderson reported that a bus arrived around noon.

With a winter storm hitting the area and temperatures dropping, passengers were concerned about being stranded.

“The bus has no heat,” said Anderson. “We have no power of any sort. It’s so cold out here. We just want to get out of the weather.”

Erica Williams, a passenger from Detroit, said that she put on three pairs of socks, two pairs of pants and three shirts to stay warm.

Williams also said that the driver was unable to reach anyone from Greyhound for two hours.

“When they finally answered they said they were going to send someone, but the bus they sent, it went past us,” she said. “They didn’t come back and come get us.”

Williams, who said she is pregnant, added that passengers were not able to go into the gas station to warm up because there were too many.

However, some passengers made other arrangements and left.

“Half of the bus has left with Uber and the rest of us are just here dealing with it,” said Anderson. “... We paid for a ticket, but this doesn’t come with a ticket.”
