NEWTON TWP., Miami County — A 32-year-old Greenville man was killed in a crash on state Route 718 near Stewart Road west of Pleasant Hill Monday afternoon.
The crash happened around 5:45 p.m.

Jared Caldwell was driving east on state Route 718 when he drove across the center line and hit a minivan, the Miami County Sheriff’s Office said.
Caldwell was pronounced dead at the scene.
The minivan was driven by Joellen Gates, 27, of Newton Twp., and she also had her 3-year-old son in the van. Gates was taken to Upper Valley Medical Center with injuries that were not believed to be life threatening. The 3-year-old was taken to the hospital by his father to be checked out, but had no apparent injuries, deputies said.
The Miami County Sheriff’s Office crash reconstruction team is continuing to investigate the crash
