Greene County Sheriff’s Department hosts flag retiring ceremony on Flag Day

GREENE COUNTY — The Greene County Sheriff’s Department hosted a ceremony to retire old flags on Flag Day this year.

At 7 p.m. Monday, people gathered at the Greene County Fairgrounds to burn old flags.

The sheriff’s department said it was proud to lead the effort and put forth a program to show an honorable display of patriotism and respect for “Old Glory.”

Those who wanted to retire a flag either brought it to the ceremony or dropped it off at one of the drop-off locations in the county.
