Graffiti returns weeks after money spent to clean up

DAYTON — Three buildings at the intersection of Wyoming and Illinois were tagged with graffiti within weeks of police and volunteers cleaning up similar vandalism.

Police and workers at the Starbucks from the Starbucks on Brown Street spent around $600 May 5 to cleanup the buildings after someone tagged them with spray paint, police said.

“It’s very irritating. With the amount of time we spent and the fact that we came in on our own time to clean it up is huge. It’s not something that we take lightly,” said Dayton Officer Christine Hamilton.  “Especially when the amount of money that was put it into as well the fact that we had volunteers coming to help. Not only me but we spoke with Starbucks and they are very upset about it as well.”

Police said profane graffiti returned to the same area earlier this week and now they are asking for the public’s help in finding who is responsible for the vandalism.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 222-STOP.
