General Motors awards Sinclair auto-tech students with scholarship

General Motors has awarded Sinclair auto-tech students with scholarships for a two-year degree in automotive technology.

The Sinclair College Foundation and General Motors Co. partnered to launch the GM Dealer Technician Scholarship, a program that will offer 14 students enrolled in the GM Automotive Service Education Program (ASEP) with full-tuition scholarships.

>> Flood watches, warnings, advisories in effect; Showers, severe storms threats continue

The program, which will welcome its first class this fall, includes co-op learning experiences at Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac dealerships where students will work hand-in-hand with experienced technicians to maintain and repair high-tech vehicles.

This program will help students become employed full-time at one of more than 4,000 GM dealerships around the country. Nearly 95 percent of students enrolled in the ASEP program are employed in the automotive field within one month of graduation.
