Franklin City Schools and the Franklin Police Department held a joint press conference to discuss the sexual misconduct allegations of a former Franklin City Schools employee.
Franklin Police report the former employee was put on administrative leave but later resigned.
The employee’s name will not be released until charges are filed according to police. Franklin’s Police Chief Russ Whitman reports this will be a long term investigation and he does not expect any updates this week.
A Franklin City Schools employee has resigned after a criminal investigation was opened into allegations of sexual misconduct between the employee and a 15-year-old student.
Administrators within the school district conducted an internal investigation into rumors of sexual misconduct between the employee and the student, according to a release from the Franklin Police Department.
The employee was placed on administrative leave during the internal investigation and has since resigned from their position within the school district, police said.
Police were requested Monday to begin the criminal investigation into the allegations, according to the release.
Criminal charges have not yet been filed, police said. The name of the former employee is being withheld because charges have not been filed.
