Forklift causes damage inside Huber Heights building; engineers deem structure unsafe

HUBER HEIGHTS — A building that holds multiple Huber Heights businesses will remain closed after a main beam inside the building was damaged by a forklift Friday morning, according to investigators.

Fire crews were dispatched on reports of a building sustaining damage in the 6100 block of Executive Boulevard around 9:20 a.m. Friday.

Investigators told News Center 7 a main beam in the structure was damaged after a forklift hit it. Initial reports indicate parts of the roof inside were beginning to sag.

Occupants of the building were evacuated while building inspectors checked the integrity of the structure. Investigators said the building will need to remain closed until repairs can be made.

No injuries were reported.

The building houses at least four businesses including Tecta America, Certified Flooring Distributors, S&D Coffee & Tea, and A&B Flooring, our crew on the scene reports.
