Dog rescued from John Byran State Park after fall from cliff

A dog that fell approximately 20 feet off the edge of a cliff at John Bryan State Park in Greene County on Monday afternoon has been taken to a vet after suffering possibly a broken leg and other injuries in the fall.

“As far as I can remember, this is the first rescue of an animal from the wilderness,” said Miami Twp. Chief Colin Altman. “Typically it’s people and we’ve had a couple of rescues of dogs from ice but this is the first time I can remember an injured animal needing our help to be brought out of the woods.”

Miami Township Fire-Rescue posted a picture of a firefighter carrying the dog out of the park.

Fire-rescue crews worked with Ohio Department of Natural Resources Law Enforcement to reach the animal and prep her for transport.

The rescuers took the dog to her owners, who took her to a veterinarian.
