The cost to address fire hazards at Clark County Fairground campsites has ballooned to $180,000.
The fair board was ordered to make changes to its campsites on the fairgrounds after firefighters warned them that RVs were parked too close together, posing a risk for rapidly spreading fire.
The original cost to county commissioners for the project was $121,000. But after electrical code changes, the cost of labor and materials jumped by $60,000.
The upgrades must be completed before the fair begins July 18.
