Classmates honor teen killed in Riverside pedestrian crash

Hunter White, the 17-year-old victim of a fatal pedestrian crash on Harshman Road in Riverside that occurred early Monday morning, has been confirmed a student and football player for Huber Heights City Schools.

In a statement Tuesday, the district said:

“The Huber Heights City Schools community is saddened to learn about the death of Hunter White. Hunter was a valued student in the district. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones during this tragic time.”

News Center 7’s Lauren Clark attended the Wayne High School football practice Tuesday night to see how community members were dealing with the tragedy and honoring the teen.

“It’s scary. You walk out the front door, you don’t know what’s going to happen. It’s very scary. And for the parents that have to bury a child... it’s very sad,” said Dorothy Page of Huber Heights.

Page no longer has children in Huber Heights City Schools, but says she’s seen time and again how the community comes together to support families in times of loss.

“When there’s a fire or something in anybody’s house... they all come together, give clothes to the family, help them, put them up. It’s a good community,” she said.

The district told this news outlet that White’s closest friends on the football team will honor him by wearing ‘Wayne Warriors’ jerseys to his viewing.
