9 fatal crashes reported in Greene County for first half of 2019

As of June 30, there have been nine crashes resulting in 11 deaths, compared to one fatality for this same time period in 2018, according to the Greene County Safe Communities Coalition.

The contributing factors in the crashes included failure to yield, speeding, traveling left of center, red light running and a wrong way driver.

The Safe Communities Coalition was developed to decrease traffic injuries and deaths through education, and it works with the county to provide educational materials and information to keep citizens safe on roads.

The Safe Communities Coalition’s next meeting is Wednesday, Aug. 21 at 9 a.m. at Greene County Public Health, 360 Wilson Drive.
