OSP helicopter tracks driver who ran into woods after fiery crash on I-70 in Clark County

UPDATE @ 7:10 a.m.:

All lanes of Interstate 70 are now open following a fiery crash and pursuit this morning to catch the driver who fled that involved the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Aviation Unit.

When troopers responded shortly before 5 a.m. they found a burning car with heavy front-end damage in the center of I-70.

The vehicle had crashed in to the rear of a semi trailer and spun, striking a guardrail before ending up back in the center of the highway.

Witnesses reported the car driver ran into the woods north of I-70.

A patrol helicopter was able to track the driver, allowing troopers to find him and take him into custody.

The driver, identified by the patrol as Jose Borja Martinez, was booked into the Clark County Jail on suspicion of

No injuries were reported in the crash and subsequent fire.

UPDATE@ 5:20 a.m.:

Officials appear to be allowing traffic to pass the disabled vehicle on the left, although the roadway is still mostly closed.

INITIAL REPORT:

Emergency crews are responding to a car fire on westbound I-70 at I-675.

The highway has been closed while officials respond. Ohio Department of Transportation cameras show that traffic has backed up past Snider Road.
