Driver briefly trapped after car struck 2 utility poles on W. Third Street in Dayton

DAYTON — The driver of a car traveling in the 3800 block of West Third Street lost control and struck two DP&L and RTA power poles early Monday morning.

Emergency crews had to tear off the top of the car to remove the driver, who was trapped, witnesses said. It’s unclear at this time what the driver’s condition is or if there were passengers in the vehicle.

Both poles are damaged and several wires are lying on the ground. DP&L and RTA crews are on the scene, and are working to repair the poles.

Both directions of West Third Street, between North Plaza and Upland avenue, were shut down while crews work.
