Crews responded just north of a railroad crossing on River Road near Miami River Road after a vehicle was reportedly on its top and fully engulfed in flames just before 6 a.m., per initial reports.

A preliminary investigation revealed the driver of the vehicle hit a curb, and the impact caused the car to flip and catch fire, according to authorities.

No one was inside the vehicle when officials arrived on scene and firefighters extinguished the flames. It is unknown how many occupants were inside the vehicle at the time of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office.
