Sheriff: Driver intentionally struck pedestrian with car because ‘she felt her life was in danger’

A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in Harrison Twp. after the driver told deputies she felt her life was in danger Thursday night.

According to deputies from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, after being dispatched to Embassy Place and Palisades Drive on a pedestrian crash just before 11 p.m., it was determined the person struck was intentionally hit due to being involved in an altercation with the occupants of the vehicle.

The pedestrian reportedly had a firearm and made threats before being struck.

The windshield on the vehicle that hit the person was smashed, according to our videographer on scene.

The pedestrian fled the scene immediately after being hit, but returned while deputies were investigating the incident. They refused medical treatment.

After striking the pedestrian, the driver also hit a car parked on Palisades Drive, resulting in her being taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Neither the driver nor the pedestrian’s names were released.

It is unknown if the driver will face any charges related to the incident.

The incident remains under investigation by the Special Investigations Unit of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
