Deputies investigate deadly brush fire in Miami County

MIAMI COUNTY — A brush fire turned deadly Easter Sunday after a man was believed to have suffered a medical condition, which led to him getting burned.

Deputies and firefighters responded to the 6100 block of Studebaker Road around 5 p.m. after the homeowner came home to find the pasture behind her house on fire, deputies said.

“It was determined the male may have suffered a medical issue while tending to brush in the area, which lead to severe burns,” a report from the sheriff’s office said.

Fire investigators were called to the scene to investigate.

The man’s body was taken to the Miami Valley Regional Crime Lab for an autopsy to determine exactly how he passed away.
