DAYTON — The Betts family thanked everyone for their support and also plan to set up a scholarship fund, according to a friend’s Facebook post.
“While they are not responding to social media right, they truly appreciate your love and support,” said Sean Halpin. “You have been heard and your support is truly appreciated.”
Police identified 24-year-old Connor Betts as the gunman behind the Oregon District shooting. His sister, Megan Betts, was one of the nine people killed.
“While this is an believably difficult situation, they are doing as well as could be expected, but have a long road ahead,” he said. “Please keep them in your hearts.”
He also said that a scholarship fund will be set up, but any requests for money should be checked with him to make sure they are legitimate.
“Unfortunately, there are some really s***** people out there who will take advantage of a bad situation,” he said.
