Dayton police involved in scuffle during investigation

Dayton police are continuing to investigate an incident early Thursday that included a fight with a police officer and an officer-needs-assistance call.

The "Signal 99" call about 1:30 a.m. grew out of an apparent confrontation involving at least three police officers who had been dispatched to the 400 block of Harriett Street on a report of a suspicious circumstance.

An incident report filed with the police department referred to a complainant hearing "banging and yelling" outside the Harriett Street address.

"We're fighting, get some more crews out here," one officer told Montgomery County Regional Dispatch. That triggered the “Signal 99” call, which was canceled about 45 seconds later, according to regional dispatch.

The incident report indicates that someone was detained pending the filing of formal charges that include felonious assault, felony drug possession, misdemeanor resisting arrest and misdemeanor obstructing official police business.
