Dayton Police Department remembers Det. Jorge DelRio

DAYTON — The Dayton Police Department is remembering fallen Dayton Detective and Drug Enforcement Administration Task Force Officer Jorge DelRio today.

DelRio was shot twice while serving a drug-related warrant as part of a DEA task force on November 4 and passed away three days later.

Sunday, November 7, 2021 is the two year anniversary of his End-of-Watch, according to a social media post from the police department.

A downtown Dayton street was dedicated in honor of DelRio. The ceremonial unveiling took place in June.

In October, the police department announced the Ohio Narcotics Association Regional Coordinating Officers named its Valor Award after DelRio.

The award goes to a law enforcement officer who “was injured or prevented the loss of life through their actions while conducting a narcotics investigation,” according to the police department.
