Dayton man convicted in 2015 fatal traffic crash

DAYTON — A Dayton man who caused three downtown traffic accidents in 2015 resulting in the death of a 22-year-old woman pleaded no contest to charges Wednesday, according to Montgomery County Common Pleas Court documents.

Walter S. Bradley was convicted of aggravated vehicular homicide (driving under suspension) and aggravated vehicular assault.

In exchange for his plea, the following charges were dropped:

• Two counts of failure to stop after an accident
• Two counts of aggravated vehicular homicide
• Aggravated vehicular assault (suspension)
• Vehicular assault
• Aggravated vehicular homicide (reckless/suspended or no valid license)
• Vehicular assault (suspension)

Sentencing for Bradley is scheduled for Nov. 8.

On Aug. 22, 2015, Bradley caused three accidents involving three other vehicles. His blood-alcohol content was nearly three times the limit and he did not have a valid driver’s license, according to reports.

Bradley hit two vehicles at the East Third and St. Clair streets intersection before hitting a third vehicle at East First and Keowee streets, according to reports.

He continued driving at more than 60 mph and then hit a fourth vehicle at Taylor and Monument streets.

The driver of the fourth vehicle, Kirstin Burton, died.

Burton’s son, who was 13 months at the time, was in the vehicle and had life-threatening injuries, but survived.
