Dayton Children’s begins vaccinating kids 12 years and older

DAYTON — Dayton Children’s Hospital held their first public vaccine clinic for anyone 12 year old and older on Saturday.

The clinic offered the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Food and Drug Administration approved Pfizer’s vaccine for use in kids ages 12-15 years old. The vaccine was previously approved for anyone 16 years old and over.

“When this new age group becomes vaccinated, they’ll be protecting not only themselves, but their parents, grandparents and their community. By getting vaccinated, they will help put an end to this pandemic,” Dr. Adam Mezoff, chief medical officer and vice president at Dayton Children’s said in a statement.
