Darke County opens vaccine registration to age 18 and older for clinics next week

DARKE COUNTY — Darke County General Health District announced it will register those 18 and older for COVID-19 vaccinations for clinics as early as next week, becoming the first local county to open vaccinations to all adults.

The county is expected to receive a combined 1,000 doses next week that will be used for clinics put on by the health district, Wayne HealthCare and Family Health.

Residents can call 937-547-2399 to register for an appointment slot.

The health department first opened its clinics to those age 18 and older Thursday after vaccine appointments weren’t filling up for clinics being held this week.

Statewide on March 29, all Ohioans age 16 and older will be eligible to get a COVID-19 vaccine.

In Darke County, 9,832 vaccines have been started and just under 20 percent of the county’s entire population is vaccinated.

Darke County became one of the local counties to fall out of red level 3 on the state’s health advisory system recently.
