Earthquakes aren’t common in the Miami Valley, but there are many seismic stations that monitor activity. A station at Kiser Lake State Park in Champaign County actually showed the seismic waves from Tuesday’s earthquake, which occurred more than 1,400 miles away.

The Incorporated Research Institutions of Seismology recorded seismic stations across the United States, which showed the ground motion as it moved from Florida to Alaska.
