The train reportedly derailed after attempting to avoid a crash with a semi-truck and trailer that was stuck on the tracks in Hardin County, a spokesperson for the company stated.

The train allegedly went into “emergency” before 21 railcars derailed near the crossing at Hodgenville Road in Glendale, the spokesperson said.

One of the derailed railcars hit a nearby, occupied vehicle causing injuries to the vehicle’s occupants. However, they did not suffer life-threatening injuries, the spokesperson informed.

No one on board the train was injured.

In addition, no hazardous materials were involved in the crash, according to the spokesperson.

“CSX crews are on site working closely with local emergency responders to assess the situation and develop recovery efforts,” CSX said in a statement. “The safety of our employees and the community are our top priority as we work to restore the area.”

Hardin County Schools were delayed following the incident, a spokesperson for the district stated. The schools extended the drop-off times for students who took the bus.
