The crash was reported just before 6 a.m. after a car got onto state Route 4 from Webster Street, and traveled south in the northbound lanes, a Dayton police spokesperson told News Center 7.

The car crashed head-on into a semitrailer, trapping on of the occupants inside. Both people inside the car were transported to an area hospital, with one listed in critical condition and the other in stable condition, police said.

The driver of the semitrailer was not injured in the crash, the owner of the truck told our crew on the scene.

The identities of those involved and injured in the crash were not released.

“Detectives from the Dayton Police Department Crash Reconstruction Unit are investigating this crash as a probable OVI related incident," the police spokesperson said.

Investigators did not specify if the driver was believed to be under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or other substances.

The crash and investigation blocked the I-75 ramps to state Route 4 for nearly three hours but reopened to traffic around 8:30 a.m.

Additional details were not released.
