Police investigate early morning shooting in Dayton

DAYTON — UPDATE @ 4:25 a.m: Dayton police are investigating after a woman was shot in an alley behind a rental hall known as "The Blue Room" early Thursday morning.

Crews responded to the area of West Fifth Street and South James H. McGee Boulevard after a 9-1-1 caller reported that the victim was lying on the ground.

“She’s been shot,” the caller told a dispatcher. “I heard a gunshot and seen someone lying on the ground.”

The victim, whose name has not been released, was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said.

It is not clear where on her body the woman was shot.

Police do not have any suspect leads at this time. We will continue following this story and bring you the latest information when it’s available.

Crews are responding to the area of West Fifth Street and South James H. McGee Boulevard for a reported shooting that occurred early Thursday.

Initial reports indicate at least one person was shot around 3:15 a.m.
