UPDATE: Crews put out burn at Kettering apartment

Kettering — UPDATE @ 6:56 a.m.:

Crews on scene told our reporter that a thrown cigarette caused a pile of leaves on an apartment balcony to begin burning.

There have been no reported injuries at this time.

INITIAL REPORT @ 6:30 a.m.:

Emergency crews are on scene responding to a reported apartment fire on the 1700 block of Big Hill Rd. in Kettering.

According to scanner traffic, crews pulling onto the scene could see smoke coming from the apartments.

Additional crews have been called to the scene once first responders arrived.

Our records show the fire is coming one of the balconies of the apartments.

We have a crew on scene and we will update this story once we learn more.
