Fire in empty Dayton house is under investigation, battalion chief says

UPDATE @ 7:40 p.m.: The fire appears to have started on the second floor of an empty brick house in the 300 block of Elmhurst Road, a Dayton fire battalion chief said.

The owner, who lives next door, told fire officials no one lives in the house that caught fire, the battalion chief said.

There are no reported injuries, the chief said.

An arson investigation has been called to the scene.

Crews are battling a house fire in the 300 block of Elmhurst Road in Dayton.

We're hearing there is heavy smoke. There has been no word on injuries.
