Truck becomes entangled in wires, pulls down multiple utility poles

DAYTON — UPDATE @ 11:05 a.m.: 

A bread truck became entangled in low-hanging wires and pulled down three utility poles, according to Dayton police.

The wires were hanging low due to a crash Wednesday night, investigators said. The truck didn’t see the wires, and pulled down three poles as the truck started traveling on North Gettysburg Avenue.

Northbound lanes of North Gettysburg Avenue are blocked south of Hoover Avenue, but southbound lanes remain open.

DP&L crews are on the scene to repair the damage.

At least three utility poles have been knocked down following a crash on North Gettysburg Avenue in Dayton Thursday morning.

Officers and medics were dispatched to the intersection of North Gettysburg Avenue at Hoover Avenue around 10:15 a.m. on reports of a crash.

A bread truck crashed into one pole, causing the other poles to fall into the roadway, according to our crew on the scene.

Police have blocked the northbound lanes of North Gettysburg Avenue before the intersection with Hoover Avenue for cleanup and investigation. The southbound lanes of North Gettysburg Avenue are open.

It was not immediately known if anyone suffered injuries in the crash.
