Crash involving a police cruiser reported in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD — UPDATE @ 2:20 p.m. :

A crash involving a Springfield police cruiser is still under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The crash was the result of apparent confusion at an intersection, it is not clear which driver was at fault.

Only minor injuries were suffered by the officer involved in the crash.

A crash reported on East Main Street and North Fountain Avenue Wednesday morning involves a Springfield police cruiser, authorities confirm.

Officials say the two-vehicle crash occurred around 6 a.m. and involved a pickup truck.

The truck was traveling south on Fountain Avenue and the police cruiser was traveling west on Main Street when the wreck happened.

A witness reported that the police cruiser struck a pole.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the crash, which had no reported injuries.

Main Street and Fountain Avenue are currently blocked.
