UPDATE: 56-year-old man ID’d as victim of deadly Dayton crash late Tuesday night

DAYTON — A Dayton man was ejected from his pickup truck and died from his injuries after crashing into a tree on South Gettysburg Avenue in Dayton late Tuesday night.

Dale Slusser, 56, of Dayton was identified as the victim killed in the crash, Montgomery County Coroner Dr. Kent Harshbarger said in a media release Wednesday.

Slusser’s cause and manner of death have not been determined and remain under investigation by the coroner’s office.

Police and medics responded to the area of South Gettysburg Avenue south of Germantown Street around 11:50 p.m. Tuesday after the single-vehicle crash was reported.

The truck Slusser was driving lost control, struck a sign and tree in the center median of South Gettysburg Avenue, which ejected him from the pickup truck.

Potential factors in the crash were not released and are still under investigation.
