Coronavirus Pandemic: What you need to know Sunday

The search is back on for a new State Health Director. It follows a bizarre turn of events Thursday when Gov. Mike DeWine at first announced he had hired a new director, Dr. Joan Duwve of South Carolina. Duwve held a similar job with the state there and has already been dealing with South Carolina’s response to the coronavirus.

Things you need to know today, Sunday:


LATEST STATE DATA: As of Sunday afternoon there have been at least 137,405 confirmed or probable cases in the state, 4,415 deaths, and 14,314 hospitalizations, according to the Ohio Department of Health. 114,906 people are presumed to have recovered from the virus in the state.

Ohio has an estimated population of approximately 11.7 million, census records show.

There have been 2,586,621 people tested for the coronavirus in Ohio, according to the Ohio Department of Health.

A total of 14,824 health care workers have tested positive which is about 11 percent of the cases.
