Coronavirus: National Guard assisting at Dayton Food Bank

DAYTON — Twenty five members of the Ohio National Guard are now working at the Dayton Food Bank following Governor Mike DeWine’s order to activate the National Guard to assist with humanitarian efforts.

Starting today, the guard members are helping package and distribute food at the Food Bank on Armor Place.

“We are incredibly grateful for the men and women who are serving domestically to help us through this crisis,” The Food Bank said in a Facebook post.

The Food Bank is no longer accepting outside volunteers in an effort to minimize exposure.

The Food Bank will continuing running its drive thru operation on Monday, Wednesday and Friday for the rest of March.  The non-profit is asking the public not to arrive before 1 p.m.

“Those utilizing our drive-thru may do so once per month and must bring some form of identification,” The Food Bank said.
