Primex Design and Fabrication, in Richmond, is helping make personal protective equipment -- referred to as PPE -- for health care workers.

“It means they don’t have to worry when they come to work, are they going to have the protection that they need to see the most critical patients,” said Samuel Iden, medical director for emergency medicine at Reid Health.

Iden said the company is making two types of face shields.

He said giving medical providers the gear they need is essential to all of our health.

“When nurses and physicians and staff can work in a safe environment, patients are safer. And then the community is safer because you don’t have your workforce contracting the illness and carrying it out to the community,” Iden said.
