Police shot and wounded a knife-wielding woman who reportedly was threatening suicide Tuesday afternoon after a struggle outside her home, Cincinnati Police Chief Eliot Isaac said.

Our news partner, WCPO.com, is reporting that police were dispatched to a home in the city’s East Price Hill neighborhood where a woman was threatening suicide.

Isaac said officers arrived about 3:45 p.m. to check on her and "a struggle ensued" outside the home in which the incident had been reported.

It ended with police shooting her in the leg, the chief said in a news conference.

The woman's injuries were not life-threatening, he said. She was taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

Isaac said the police department would analyze officers' body camera recordings of the incident as well as other potential video showing the struggle.

He said he expected to provide an update Wednesday morning.

This is the second police officer-involved shooting since July 4, when an officer wounded a man armed with a butcher knife. The man, walking toward two officers while holding a large knife, ignored their orders to stop.

One of the officers shot the man three times. He was taken to a hospital.

Chief Isaac, at the time, said the man apparently was dealing with mental health challenges.
