Teen hit by vehicle in front of Springfield middle school

SPRINGFIELD — UPDATE @ 8:05 a.m.: 

A 14-year-old was treated at the scene after they were hit by a vehicle in front of Hayward Middle School in Springfield, according to police.

The teen was not transported to an area hospital after the crash, police said.

The driver of the car was not cited for the crash.

FIRST REPORT

Police are investigating reports of a child who was hit by a vehicle in front of Hayward Middle School in Springfield early Thursday morning, according to initial reports.

The crash was reported in the 1700 block of Clifton Avenue around 6:45 a.m., dispatch records indicate.

The condition of the child was not immediately known. Initial police scanner traffic indicated the child was alert after the crash.
