According to a release by Huber Heights police, the driver of a silver Ford Mustang traveling on Charlesgate failed to maintain control of the vehicle. As a result, the vehicle struck a street sign, ripped a fire hydrant out of the ground, and struck the front of a house before it came to a stop.

The 92-year-old homeowner was in the back of the house watching football when the crash happened, but he was not injured. The crash did, however, cause moderate damage to the front of the house.

The fire hydrant became dislodged due to the crash, causing partial flooding of the intersection near Emeraldgate Drive.

Some residents reported discolored yellow water following the crash. Water personnel encourage those affected to run water for 15 to 20 minutes in order to flush out the lines.

The driver will potentially be cited for failure to control.

The incident remains under investigation.
