Each year a donated tree is decorated on Courthouse Square with more than 50,000 lights. During the ceremony the tree is lit up, illuminating the season for the city.

Think you might have a tree that will fill the bill? Here’s what the Dayton Holiday Festival committee is looking for:

• The tree should be 45 to 60 feet tall.

• A Colorado green spruce or blue spruce is preferred but all types of evergreens will be considered.

• The tree must be located on nominee’s property in the front or side yard with clear access to the tree, free from power lines or transit cables.

Miami Valley residents who believe they have the perfect tree can nominate it by calling Emilee Langenkamp at the Downtown Dayton Partnership at (937) 224-1518, ext. 227, or email langenkamp@downtowndayton.org.

The search committee will select the tree later in October.
