ST. MARYS, Ohio — County and park officials are trying to determine who's responsible for the apparent drowning death of a dog found in a cage in a western Ohio lake.
The cage was found floating in the water last weekend at Grand Lake St. Marys State Park, between Dayton and Toledo. Parks manager Brian Miller tells The Lima News the dog was recovered in a corner of the lake near a campground.
Miller said the dog had a collar and appeared to have been in the water for a while. Miller said he could not identify the dog's breed.
Miller also said he would not specify the type of cage or say whether the dog collar included license tags.
