COLUMBUS — State lawmakers unveiled a $2.1 billion capital spending bill Tuesday to pay for state and local building projects.
The largest recipient of the funds are state universities with plans to renovate buildings, repave parking lots and make safety and technology upgrades on campuses. The massive bill also includes money for community projects such as $50,000 for an inclusive playground in Logan County and $2.7 million for campus energy and efficiency controls at Wright State University.
In a written statement released when the bill was unveiled, Senate President Larry Obhof said the plan is to pass the capital bill by the end of the week with a vote scheduled for Thursday. “The state capital budget plays a major role in making needed improvements to our hometowns while at the same time creating jobs and growing our economy,” said Obhof.
