Basement fire causes damage to Dayton duplex

DAYTON — UPDATE @ 2:20 p.m.: 

Damage is estimated around $6,000 after a fire broke out in the basement of a duplex on Catalpa Drive in Dayton Wednesday afternoon.

No injuries were reported and all occupants were able to safely evacuate, according to officials.

It was not immediately known if any occupants of the duplex would be displaced.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Black smoke is reportedly showing from a home in the 2300 block of Catalpa Drive in Dayton this afternoon.

Firefighters responded to the fire around 1 p.m.
