Bicyclist injured in Greenville hit-and-run

Greenville, Ohio — Police in Greenville are investigating a hit-and-run crash after a bicyclist was struck early Friday morning by a vehicle.

The crash happened around 1:20 a.m. in the 300 block of Devor Street.

Police, fire and rescue from Greenville all responded after getting a report of hit-and-run injuries.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a vehicle was traveling on Devor Street when it hit a man on a bike, according to a police report. Police said the driver of the vehicle fled the scene.

The bicyclist was treated at the scene and then taken to Wayne Health Care for further treatment.

According to our partners at the Early Bird Newspaper, initial reports indicated that the suspect vehicle may have matched the description of a vehicle that had been pulled over earlier in the evening. Greenville officers located the vehicle in an alley near the 400 block of Front Street, the Early Bird said.

Damage to the vehicle matched the hit-and-run description. Evidence found at the scene, along with an eyewitness statement helped police compare information.

The incident remains under investigation by the Greenville Police Department.
